History of Nikes Air Max 90
AIR MAX ’90
One of the most iconic running shoes of all time was released in 1990. Designed by the legendary Tinker Hatfield, Nike’s Vice President for Design and Special Projects. Air Max ’90 was originally known as Air Max III.
THE FIRST COLOURWAY
The first and the most popular colourway was the ‘Infrared’, the fucken OG colourway in 1990, the “Hyvent Orange”.
2002
12 years later, Nike released a similar pair called the “MX ORANGE,” but apparently was only released in Australia.
2003
The OG sneakers with the “Infrared” colourway made their way in the European & Asian markets.
2005
As part of the ‘History of Air Collection,’ Nike made the first retro released of the “Infrared” Air Max ’90 in the U.S.A. – which grew iconic sneaker’s popularity. Although the heel is a tad smaller than the OG’s, fans still loved its design and comeback.
2008
Nike decided to bring back the Air Max ’90 with a little twist – using a combination of premium materials: Premium Ostrich.
2012
The Original colourway came back 22 years later – the “Infrared” Air Max ’90 Hyperfuse. With innovative materials, these babies sold out immediately everywhere in the U.S.
